Profile is a rough sketch from hut and summit heights, not survey data.
Malyovitsa is the peak Bulgarian climbers grow up on, and its north face dominates the valley the whole way in. The walkers' route avoids the face entirely and goes round the back, but it is a bigger day than Musala because there is no lift: you start from the complex at around 1,700 m.
An easy forest track leads to Malyovitsa hut in about an hour. Above it the valley rises in three distinct terraces, each with its own boulder field, and the second terrace holds the small Elenino lake, which is the natural lunch stop.
The last section climbs to the saddle and follows the broad ridge to the summit. In early July there is often still a snow patch below the saddle; it is short, but it is steep enough that poles are worth carrying.
